OpenPYPE Browser for Houdini

I created this tool to accomplish a few goals I had. The first was to see, after 6-7 months of being laid off, where I was with my proficiency with Python. The second was to see where I needed to improve. Finally I needed to learn something completely new, in this case it was PyQt.

A mature and universal tool like this already exists in OpenPYPE / AYON in Houdini called the ‘Loader’ and ‘Manager’. This tool was never supposed to compete with it. I only wanted to create something I knew would be a good challenge.. but do it differently. This took me a couple of weeks to develop, and isn’t completely done. There are plenty of bugs in it, but I’m working them out slowly but surely. The code is always getting more efficient and optimized.

I only made this for OpenPYPE, but I will be migrating it to AYON in the future.

Slack for Prism-Pipeline

At Warm’n Fuzzy we work with Slack all day every day so it became clear to me that we could make better use of this resource. At the time of writing this, we are using Prism-Pipeline for our pipeline software of choice. At first it began in the summer of just making the option to publish renders via the Media Browser, but it became clear that it was hampering processes quite a bit.

In November 2024, I began to re-write the plugin from a mere 200 lines with a simple command, to a full-fledged plugin for ~5K lines (currently). I will continue on making this better and better but at some point I may be forced to drop it at some point, but I wanted to make sure it was on GitHub in the event that happens.
